AOE3 DE is dirt cheap and gives abundant value for money. AOE3DE is all AOE3 but better (although I wish they had replaced original background music tracks with new ones).Īpart from all this, pricing is another important factor. Over these years I have played many RTS titles (0AD, Empire Earth, Rise of Nations etc.) but none had the potential to dethrone AOE3 (Spellforce 3 and Majesty 2 might be the closest candidates). Age of Empries 3 is my most favorite AOE game. But I still remember the day when I first played Age of Empires III game. With regards to Age of Empires franchise, AOE 2 was the game that I loved the most among all "Age of" games and even today I hold it in high regards. I have been playing "Age of" games since their inception (was it during Window 95 era or was it Window 98?) and so I have experienced it all over last 20 years. Personally, I choose variety and complexity over streamlined, smooth and balanced experience coz I almost never play multiplayer (but I do play co-op, quite a lot). It all depends of what type of player you are. and just forget about managing villagers) If you like micro-managing (as in AOE 2 where you need to really pay attention to your villagers rather than like AOE3 where you just can built a farms, plantations, banks, shrines etc. If you prefer streamlined gameplay rather than complexity and variety of options.
If you prefer medieval era over early modern era (take this with a pinch of salt coz AOE3 too, to some extent, can satiate that itch for archaic units there are pikemen, rodeleros, longbowmen, crossbowmen, samurais, boneguards, corsairs, ronnins, the list goes on.) If you are fine with minimalistic (simplified) graphics. If you prefer a well-balanced comeptitive gameplay over causal gaming.
